A simplified central dispatch problem is:

Wholesale settlement then uses a regional reference price:

pr(t).p_r(t).

AEMO repeats dispatch at five-minute intervals.

This makes the energy layer substantially more dynamic than traditional longer-interval market architectures while retaining regional rather than nodal settlement.
