Mission 03

Fix the economy.

An economy should make people more prosperous, secure and free to build.

Britain doesn't have one economic problem. It has a collection of interacting systems that increasingly work against one another.

Align productivity, energy costs, and innovation incentives for sustainable growth.

Weak productivity
Weak wage growth
Weak tax base
Fiscal pressure
Higher / distorted taxation
Weaker incentives to invest
...feeds back into weak productivity.

Not a rigorous causal model with proven magnitudes — an explanatory map of how these pressures reinforce one another, alongside expensive energy, housing constraints, infrastructure, regulation and debt servicing.

Weak productivity leads to weak wage growth, which leads to a weak tax base, which leads to fiscal pressure, which leads to higher or distorted taxation, which leads to weaker incentives to invest, which feeds back into weak productivity.

The problems reinforce one another.

The economy cannot be repaired one isolated policy at a time if the policies themselves interact — weak productivity, weak wages, a weak tax base and fiscal pressure feed each other in a loop.

We tax what we say we want

Investment, employment, entrepreneurship and productive activity can face overlapping taxes and withdrawal incentives.

We consume future capacity

Persistent borrowing and debt servicing place claims on future economic output.

Productive systems are constrained

Energy, housing, infrastructure and regulatory complexity affect the ability to build and grow.

The system has accumulated

Taxes, subsidies, regulations, thresholds, liabilities and interventions have been added over decades without the overall system necessarily being designed as one coherent architecture.

The economy isn't a collection of independent policies.

It is a system of incentives, resources, constraints and feedback loops.

Explore the economic problem

What would a successful economy actually feel like?

Households become wealthier

Real disposable income and household wealth can rise sustainably.

Work and enterprise pay

People are rewarded for earning, building, investing and creating useful things.

Essential inputs are affordable

Energy, housing, infrastructure and other fundamentals do not unnecessarily suppress living standards or productive activity.

Government is financially sustainable

Today's consumption is not indefinitely transferred to future generations.

Productivity compounds

Technology, infrastructure, capital and knowledge allow people to produce more value with fewer scarce resources.

Innovation is easy

The system encourages useful experimentation, entrepreneurship and investment rather than making complexity itself a barrier to entry.

See what good looks like

Can an economy be designed as a feedback system?

The Adaptive Economic Operating System is a candidate architecture under investigation — not a proven answer. It's tested against the same problem definition and required outcomes as any alternative would be.

How this investigation works

Compare

Each candidate takes a position on every design decision — that's what the comparison matrix shows.

Test

Evidence and critique live on each candidate's own pages, not as a separate tab here.

Deliver

Think we're wrong? Good.

Enleashed isn't a manifesto looking for agreement. It's an open investigation looking for better answers.
Challenge the assumptions. Critique the candidates. Add evidence. Build something better.
