Battles

A Mission is an enduring system transformation — it can run for years. A Battle is finite: a specific decision, rule, institution, pilot, vote, funding requirement or implementation challenge standing between a tested idea and it becoming real, with a victory condition concrete enough that it can actually be marked won.

Battles are not conflicts with people. They're finite moments where an idea meets a real barrier to change — never the people or institutions currently associated with that barrier, who can just as easily become implementation partners once it moves. Missions continue; Battles end.
